Week 5, Thing 10

After reading through the materials for Thing 10 I have a new appreciation for social networking sites. From my own experience, sites like MySpace and Facebook, have been very popular with teens and young adults for "friending" purposes. I had not considered these social networking pages as options for getting news and information about the library out on the web before. I think as long as there is staff with available time and commitment to to regularly updating the account, that social networking sites could be very beneficial to libraries. It not only allows patrons to stay in touch with their library, but it also allows networking between libraries.
